Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the region, producing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that various areas across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered energy failures after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations received over five hundred calls for help across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

• Hoppers Crossing area - various assistance requests
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.
